Business consulting that actually changes your numbers

We work with owner-managed firms turning over £2m–£40m. Our focus is narrow: find where margin leaks, fix them, and leave you with a team that keeps the gains. Based in Wales, working across the UK.

What we actually do

Four areas, each with a defined deliverable and a fixed fee. No retainers that drift into indefinite advisory.

Margin diagnostics

We pull apart your P&L line by line, map cost drivers against revenue streams, and identify the two or three changes that will shift gross margin by 3–7 percentage points. Typical turnaround: six weeks from data handover to recommendation pack.

Operational redesign

Bottlenecks hide in handoffs between departments. We observe, time and map your workflows, then redesign the ones that cost you the most. Clients in manufacturing and logistics have cut cycle times by 20–35% through this process.

Growth risk assessment

Scaling exposes weaknesses that were invisible at a smaller size. Before you hire 20 people or sign a new lease, we stress-test your cash flow model, supply chain dependencies and management bandwidth against three growth scenarios.

Board-level facilitation

When founders and directors disagree on direction, meetings stall. We design and chair structured strategy sessions, produce written decision logs, and hold the room accountable to deadlines. Sessions run quarterly or as a one-off reset.

How an engagement runs

Most projects finish inside 14 weeks. Here is the shape of that time.

Week 1: Diagnostic call and data request

A 45-minute video call to understand your situation. We send a short data checklist afterwards: usually your last 24 months of management accounts, an org chart, and any KPI dashboards you already run. No 80-page questionnaire.

Weeks 2–4: Analysis and site visit

We spend one or two days on-site watching how work actually flows, talking to team leads, and reconciling what the numbers say with what people do. This is where most of the value sits: the gap between reported performance and real performance.

Week 5: Findings presentation

A 20-slide deck, not 120. Each recommendation carries a projected financial impact, an owner, and a deadline. You decide which ones to pursue.

Weeks 6–12: Implementation support

We join your weekly stand-up, unblock problems, and build the tracking tools your team will use after we leave. If a recommendation needs specialist skills we do not have, we bring in a named expert from our network at their own quoted rate.

Weeks 13–14: Handover and review

Final measurement against the baseline we set in week two. Written summary of what changed, what still needs attention, and a 90-day watch list your finance lead can monitor without us.

Outcomes, not promises

Two recent engagements, anonymised at the client's request.

Food production facility interior
+5.4pp gross margin

£12m food manufacturer, South Wales

Raw material waste ran at 11% of input cost. We traced 60% of that waste to a single packaging line changeover procedure. A revised changeover protocol and operator training programme cut waste to 4.8% within ten weeks. Annual saving: £380k.

Logistics warehouse with shelving and forklift
28% faster order cycle

£7m distribution business, Midlands

Orders took an average of 6.2 days from receipt to dispatch. The delay sat in a manual credit-check step that applied to every order regardless of customer history. We introduced tiered approval rules and integrated the credit check into the order management system. Cycle dropped to 4.5 days. Customer complaints fell by a third in the following quarter.

Questions we hear often

A margin diagnostic starts at £9,500 for firms under £5m revenue. Full diagnostic-plus-implementation projects for mid-market clients typically fall between £25,000 and £55,000 depending on scope and duration. We quote a fixed fee after the initial call, and that number does not change unless you add scope.

Yes. About 40% of our current clients are in England, mostly the Midlands and South West. Analysis and facilitation work well remotely. For operational redesign, we travel to your site regardless of location and include travel costs in the fixed fee.

Manufacturing, distribution, food production and professional services make up most of our portfolio. The methods transfer well across sectors because the problems tend to be structural: unclear costing, slow handoffs, under-used data. We decline work in industries where we have no relevant experience.

No. We work alongside your finance team, not instead of them. In fact, the handover stage is designed so your FD or financial controller owns the ongoing monitoring. If you do not have an FD and need one, we can help you write the brief and sit on the interview panel, but we will not fill that seat ourselves.

We set measurable targets in writing before implementation starts. If we miss the agreed target by more than 30%, we extend the engagement at no extra cost until we reach it or agree with you that the approach needs to change. That clause is in every contract.

Let's talk about your numbers

The diagnostic call is free and takes 45 minutes. If there is something we can help with, we will tell you what it costs before any commitment. If there is not, we will say so.
